Foundations Fitness Trainer (3 month Certified Personal Trainer) Program

The National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) of Southern California is proud to be an Academic Partner with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). NASM is currently the leading fitness certification in the industry that provides you with an incredible hands-on education that will fully prepare you to enter the competitive job force. NPTI offers a classroom setting with hands-on practice to develop high quality personal trainers. You will learn how to master goal-specific program design for optimal results, accurate assessments, and how to develop and modify exercises in a safe and effective manner. You will receive both a NPTI state-approved diploma and be eligible to sit for the NCCA accredited NASM certification upon completion. This 220-hour, 3-month course involves 110 hours of hands-on training in the gym and 110 hours in the classroom.

Performance Enhancement Specialist

Performance Enhancement Specialist

PES is a 220-hour (3 month) course preparing you to work with athletes at any level from youth sports to professional athletes. Founded on the evidence-based OPTTM model, the PES program will help you improve your clients' athletic performance. This includes their power, speed, agility and quickness.  A complete understanding of the NASM OPT model is recommended to take this course. This course includes both in-person learning in the classroom, as well as hands-on learning in the gym.

Corrective Exercise Specialist

Corrective Exercise Specialist

CES is a 220-hour (3 month) course, and is one of the most important components of a comprehensive exercise program. Regardless of athletic ability or fitness level, almost every person has some degree of dysfunction that increases the chance for injury. Corrective exercise by its simplest definition is a movement or exercise chosen to correct a specific dysfunction. A complete understanding of the NASM OPT model is recommended to take this course. This course includes both in-person learning in the classroom, as well as hands-on learning in the gym.

Health Coach Specialist

Health Coach Specialist

HCS is a 220-hour (3 month) course, and it includes the Certified Nutrition Coach certification through NASM. During this course, you’ll gain the relevant knowledge and abilities you’ll need to design and deliver top-quality, individualized nutrition coaching for your clients. You’ll be able to use your nutrition coaching skills to increase success in your clients’ health and fitness related goals. This includes learning the psychology behind how we get stuck in dietary patterns - and how to break them. As well as learning how to apply nutrition science and behavior change in the real world to get your clients results. You will receive the latest cutting-edge science in all things related to fat loss, muscle gain, and overall wellness. This course includes both in-person learning in the classroom, as well as hands-on learning in the gym.

Lifespan Specialist

Lifespan Specialist

LSS is a 220-hour (3 month) course, and it includes the Senior Fitness Specialist and Youth Exercise Specialist certifications through NASM. For the Senior Fitness portion of this class, we will discuss physiological and anatomical considerations of aging, nutrition for active older adults, fitness assessments for active older adults, safety guidelines, common medical conditions, and program design. For the Youth Exercise portion of the class, we will discuss physiological considerations for youth, nutrition, fitness assessments, flexibility, core/balance and SAQ, along with program design all for the youth population. This course includes both in-person learning in the classroom, as well as hands-on learning in the gym.

Group Fitness Instructor

Group Fitness Instructor

GFI is a 220-hour (3 month) course through AFAA (Athletics & Fitness Association of America), who is partnered with NASM. During this course you will learn how to design, choreograph and lead a group fitness class which includes the various modalities of strength/resistance, HIIT/interval, boot camp, yoga, cycle and more. Exercise and physiology will be an essential factor, as well as foundations of nutrition and healthy eating. You will also learn how to adapt your skills for special populations (such as pregnant or senior participants), and will hone your business skills. This course includes both in-person learning in the classroom, as well as hands-on learning in the gym.

Virtual Coach Specialist

Virtual Coach Specialist

VCS is a 220-hour (3 month) course that is an immersive online experience, equipping you with the skills, tools, and strategies needed to launch, operate, or transition your current fitness or wellness business into a successful Virtual Coaching Business. This includes learning the components of a virtual business plan, and honing effective online sales and marketing strategies. More importantly, you will learn how to foster an engaging and effective online relationship with your clients by learning to conduct and modify fitness assessments; coach and cue clients using proven behavior change strategies; modify programming based on specific client needs; and design programs with an array of goals/obstacles all within a virtual training environment.

Behavior Fitness Coach

Behavior Fitness Coach

BFC is a 220-hour (3 month) course in which students will learn the basics of personal & professional leadership as well as motivational & situational techniques to use with clients to enhance positive behavioral change. Students will also learn how to apply a holistic, integrated, principled-centered approach to organizing personal lives and motivating people to be physically active. In addition, students will learn about client screening, goal setting, managing stress, physical performance, the professional ethics of wellness professionals and health-related quality of life. This course will lay the foundation for students to effectively promote personal training as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Yoga Teacher Training (220 hr. & 500 hr.)

Yoga Teacher Training (220 hr. & 500 hr.)

NPTI offers a 220-hour (3 month) and 500-hour (6 month) Yoga Training course immersing you in the ancient practice of Yoga. Using Yoga as a system to develop awareness of the self, body, energy and mind. NPTI is recognized by, and registered as a yoga school (RYS 200 & RYS 500) through Yoga Alliance, the largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community. The YTT courses include daily integrated practice, yoga philosophy and psychology, practical techniques, anatomy & physiology for yoga, and teaching techniques/practices. You will learn how to write yoga sequences based on client demographics, time of day, & goals. The programs are designed with both classroom and practical application to prepare you as a Yoga Teacher. You will receive both a NPTI state-approved diploma and be eligible to become a RYT 200 or RYT 500 (Registered Yoga Teacher) through Yoga Alliance upon completion.

Restorative Yoga Instructor

RYI is a 220-hour (3 Month) course that will take students on a journey of warmth & self-discovery where you'll uncover the heart of the nurturing Restorative Yoga practice. Immerse yourself in the philosophy, history, & artful poses of this practice--Where the focus is not on stretching and strengthening, but rather on releasing, with the intention of helping us to cultivate the skill of conscious relaxation. This transformative experience extends an invitation to explore self-care as the cornerstone for spreading care to others. Gain teaching methodologies with a compassionate touch, leaving you with confidence to share the joy of restorative yoga.
